J*

Okay, so if you know me at all, you've heard me sing the praises of Jasmine Star, wedding portraitess extraordinaire! I've been an avid reader and follower of her blog for a while now (originally because it was just so pretty, but it didn't take me long to find all the golden nuggets of wisdom and gems of photos she has tucked away there!), and I've already informed my parents that, someday, she will be the amazing, awesome photographer at my wedding.

Recently, I was out with a friend and her roommates, and when one of the roommies found out I was a photographer, she exclaimed, "Oh my gosh, do you know J Star?" And, of course, we drooled and screamed like high school girls together, swearing that she'd someday photograph each of our weddings. Roommie number one even said, "[Roommie number 2] saw her at Target the other day!" and we discussed it like a celebrity sighting.

So, anyway, I love browsing through her posts to look at pictures, but because she's simply amazing, the lovely J* also writes super informative FAQ posts to help out her fellow photographers. Today, she's put up What's In Your Bag?, a comprehensive guide to lenses and their practical uses. Of course, she shoots with a Canon, and I'm a Nikon lover, but still. This is a good read for any photographer, beginner, intermediate, or advanced, and even those who are just playing with the idea of getting into the sport of photography.

I'm a big proponent of following J*'s blog on a regular basis. Go check her out!

Megan thinks it's so much fun to write about herself in third person that she can't help but do that now. Megan was born the plump child of two staffing industry sweethearts. At the precocious age of three, she learned to read, bite her younger brother, and help people. She followed her compassion for and love of people into hospice, working as the Volunteer Coordinator, and later Director of Volunteers, for two LA-based hospice agencies. Her experiences there were rather grim, so in December 2009 she made the leap into staffing, satisfying both her compassionate side and her epic need to crush competition. Away from the office (er, laptop, as she is glued to her computer and Droid, and annoys her fiance by working far more than she should), Megan is heavily involved with her church. She loves to write and will someday publish 482 books, loves movies (and alphabetising them), and believes that the Brits spell everything correctly.

About This Blog

Really, this is purely intended as an outlet for me. It's not for you... Okay, maybe it's a little for you. I want to write and take pictures and share both with everyone who wants to read them. So that's all this is. Just my gallery wall, my best-selling novel.
